We used an Agent to operate our product's social accounts over time. The goal and metrics below are shortened extracts of its Weibo-related work, showing how the two fields work together.
Goal: make the operating duties clear
Operate the product's Weibo account until September 30, 2026. Choose topics, publish and review feedback to help more people learn about the product. Publish at least two posts daily from real source material and send the day's operations report after 21:00.
This Goal names the account, intended result, daily duties and end date. The Agent can plan its work, and the operator knows what to expect each day.
KPIs: make the result measurable
Target 500,000 verifiable monthly views, using the platform's post read counts. Record each post and count its reading once. Keep likes, comments and repost counts separate. Update daily; when fresh data is unavailable, mark the previous reading as carried over and retain its measurement time.
This specifies a target, data source, counting method and update frequency. It measures readings of the content; likes, comments and other metrics cannot be added to the same total.
Use the actual result to judge progress
The recorded monthly total was 90,674 out of 500,000, about 18%. The target was missed. When the login expired and fresh data was unavailable, reports clearly marked the reading as carried over. See one actual published post.
The Goal tells the Agent what work to do. KPIs show the result and the remaining gap. Use the same structure for your own account, timeframe and target; the writing guide includes examples you can copy.
